In light of ongoing COVID-19 implications, this year’s Flash Memory Summit event has moved to a virtual format. Although we won’t be attending in sunny Santa Clara this year, FMS 2020 will feature the same highly anticipated keynotes and latest technology updates, forecasts and roadmaps—all from the comfort of your home.
As an FMS industry sponsor, NVM Express looks forward to engaging with the storage community and sharing the up-to-date information on NVM Express® (NVMe®) technology, development and adoption.
Below we’ve previewed the exciting and informative NVM Express sponsored sessions planned for FMS 2020:
Keynote 12: NVM Express – Thursday, Nov. 12, 10:25-10:55 am
NVMe Technology: Powering the Connected Universe
NVM Express President Amber Huffman will lead a keynote presentation highlighting NVMe technology’s evolution. Over the years, the industry has seen NVMe architecture evolve from being a disruptive technology to becoming a core element in storage architectures. Attendees will hear about the latest NVMe technologies, NVMe standards roadmap and the latest NVMe standardization initiatives.
Session B-1: NVMe-oF: The Best Way to Network Enterprise Storage – Tuesday, Nov. 10, 8:35 – 10:05 am
Bringing NVMe/TCP Up to Speed
In this presentation, the author of the NVMe/TCP specification, Sagi Grimberg, will analyze the differences between RoCE and TCP and explore how to eliminate bottlenecks, leading to the best in-class performance for both protocols in an end-to-end NVMe over Fabrics (NVMe-oF™) architecture communication.
Session B-3: Getting the Most out of NVMe – Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2:35 – 4:05 pm
The State of NVMe Interoperability
NVM Express proudly collaborates with the UNH-IOL on NVMe technology conformance and interoperability testing. In this presentation, David Woolf will provide attendees with the most recent updates to the official NVM Express Compliance program, including how agnostic to underlying transport enables smooth transition from PCIe 3.0 to 4.0 to 5.0 specifications.
NVMe Specification 2.0 Preview
The NVMe specification is transitioning to a merged base specification inclusive of both NVMe and NVMe-oF architectures. NVMe specification 2.0 aims to preserve the NVM Express pillars of simple, fast and scalable, while readying the NVMe technology ecosystem for another period of growth and expansion. In this presentation, Nick Adams will preview the new specification and help prepare the storage community for this specification evolution.
NVMe Technology in the Real World
This session will explore real-world implementations and use cases from presenters Ross Stenfort and Rupin Mohan. Ross will share how Facebook benefits from NVMe features in deploying at scale, while Rupin will discuss how NVMe-oF technology is evolving to redefine next generation SAN and the key fabric requirements to enable this new frontier.
Session B-4: NVMe Technology in Cloud Applications – Tuesday, Nov. 10, 4:45 – 5:15 pm
This panel presentation will feature experts from Facebook, Mellanox, Western Digital and Microsoft as they discuss how their businesses use NVMe technology to advance their cloud applications. The panelists will share why their respective companies chose NVMe technology for their cloud storage applications.
Session D-7: New Ways to Improve SSD Management and Performance (SSDs Track) – Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2:15 – 1:35 pm
Monitoring the Health of NVMe SSDs
Join presenter Jonmichael Hands for an informative session detailing the various NVMe specification features to monitor errors, device health and endurance. These capabilities include enhance error reporting, logging, management, debug, telemetry and more. Tune in on Wednesday to learn how to better manage the status and health of NVMe SSDs.
Engage with NVM Express at FMS 2020
We hope these sessions provide the needed insights to help kickstart your NVMe storage development. We look forward to networking with attendees and answering all your NVMe technology-related questions.
Those interested in attending FMS 2020 can now pre-register on the FMS website. If you’d like to speak to NVM Express members about NVMe technology implementation or NVM Express membership, we encourage you to visit their booths in the virtual exhibit hall.
